What happens if modern technology is over-run by evil artificial intelligence?

It's a question thousands of us dread; when will computers finally take over the world.

A new US series, 'neXt', starring Emmy Award nominated John Slattery ('Mad Men', 'Mrs America') examines the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence and its affect on society.

Slattery plays a Silicon Valley pioneer who, upon discovering one of his own A.I. creations could lead to global catastrophe, teams up with a cybercrime agent (Fernanda Andrade, 'The Devil Inside') to fight an unseen villain whose greatest weapon against us is ourselves.

"The most interesting part of it is that everybody has these devices – we have computers, we have laptops, we have iPads, we have phones, we have these supercomputers in our possession at all times," Slattery told 'ET'.

"And they are listening, and they are watching, and they are recording information, and they are learning about you."

The ensemble cast features Michael Mosley ('Ozark', 'Sirens'), Jason Butler ('Ozark', 'Ray Donovan') and Eve Harlow ('Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.').

'neXt' will screen weekly episodes from 7 October on Foxtel's FOX ONE, or will be available to stream with Foxtel Go or Foxtel Now.
