Leo Returns In Wolf Of Wall Street Trailer

Leonardo Di Caprio
Arts Editor and Senior Writer (many years until 2012)

If Great Gatsby didn't sate your desire to see Leonardo DiCaprio acting like a wealthy arsehole on screen, we present this trailer for The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Directed by Martin Scorsese (and written by Boardwalk Empire scribe Terrence Winter), the film tells the tale of Wall Street hotshot Jordan Belfort, a real life cretin who made almost a million dollars a week by shouting 'buy!' and 'sell!' at people and throwing coked-up parties where he popped, locked, and shot midgets at things. The '80s were a simpler, better time.

The trailer is eerily reminiscent of the first Gatsby teaser, from the Kanye West soundtrack to the morally depraved decadence that you have to admit looks pretty awesome. (The Gatsby trailer wasn't so in love with shots of Matthew McConaughey making random noises, but it did have that godawful Turtles cover, so we're gonna call it a draw.)

Crucially, it includes the money shot for any Leo DiCaprio movie — yes, there is a scene where Leo raises his glass while grinning smugly. This is Leo's signature move, and it's been single-handedly responsible for the success of Titanic, Django Unchained and The Great Gatsby, so why stop now? (Baz Luhrmann is no doubt digitally adding a raised glass to the fish tank scene from Romeo + Juliet for the Blu-Ray release.)

Not content to rely on the box office pulling power of Leo's stemware, the film also stars McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jean Dujardin, Ethan Suplee, Jon Bernthal and Spike Jonze. Spike Jonze, you guys.

We'll raise our glasses to that.
