Rumours are flying thick and fast today that Gina Carano — actress, model and MMA fighter — will appear as Wonder Woman in the next Superman film.
The cause of these rumours? She was spotted with Henry Cavill at a car show. Of course.
Now, this may seem like a slender lead — who are we kidding, this is an extremely fucking slender lead — but there might be more to it than you think. Carano has been the hot favourite to take on the Wonder Woman role for a while (we sure can't think of anyone more qualified); Henry Cavill is playing Superman in Man Of Steel, due out next year; and Superman and Wonder Woman did just get together in the comics.
So there's every chance they met on the set of Man Of Steel, then. Certainly, if Warner Bros wants to make a Justice League movie, it makes sense to copy the Marvel method and have the characters make cameo appearances in each other's films.
If Carano is Wonder Woman, we're pretty psyched — it's exciting to know a woman who can kick arse will be wearing the tiara, and it makes it less likely this "strong female character" will be portrayed by a stick-thin lingerie model (ok, so you might have to ignore the image above).
