'Independence Day: Resurgence' is a cinematic marvel filled with hostile aliens, one-liners, crazy mad scientists and battle scenes to rival even the original cult-classic 'Independence Day'.
Just the same as they did 20 years ago, the hostile alien species which almost wiped the Earth out strikes back again. This time they are more cunning, have more firepower, and their technology has furthered far greater than it was before. Taking out the Earth’s defence systems in a single hit, they plant themselves on top of the planet – literally – to start drilling to our molten core. It is a race against time to stop them from reaching it, or else the atmosphere vanishes, and human life along with it.
Many things on Earth have changed since the last catastrophe happened, mostly concerning technology and weapon advancements. The new weaponry, spacecrafts and devices are exciting and not at all poxy, unlike other space-based movies.
Dr Brackish Okun and David Levinson steal the show with the comedic relief that resonates fondly with the original. New characters Jake, Dylan and Charlie also provide some much needed young-guns to the mix for the new generation. Funny, witty, and downright badass, these three sure know how to make an entrance, and a memorable final exit.

The CGI for the aliens and crafts were phenomenal. Watching the mothership descend onto Earth will make the audience feel small, and seeing the Queen of the Hive will make them feel like crawling under their seat and looking through the gaps in their fingers.
It was action packed until the end, with a unique twist in an alien ally species that cracked the typical alien stereotype wide open.
Ignoring the sometimes cheesy themes of American patriotism, this is a fun, suspenseful and worthy sequel of its predecessor which hits all the right apocalyptic disaster movie notes along the way.
