Stories are a living thing proclaims the new HBO drama-horror series 'Lovecraft Country'.
After watching the show's trailer, and given the current social and civil global unrest, this could be HBO's next, big title.
From Misha Green, co-creator and executive producer of the historical drama 'Underground', and based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, 'Lovecraft Country' follows the story of a young African American, Atticus Black, who travels across 1950s segregated United States in search of his missing father (Michael K. Williams; 'The Wire', 'Boardwalk Empire').
Atticus (played by Jonathan Majors) is joined by his friend Letitia (Jurnee Diana Smollett; 'True Blood', 'Underground') and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance; 'The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story').
They share a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback. (H.P. Lovecraft was a 20th Century American writer of weird fiction and horror fiction).
Australian model-actor Abbey Lee ('Ruben Guthrie', 'Mad Max: Fury Road') plays Christina Braithwhite, the sole daughter of the leader of a secret order known as the Sons of Adam.
Other cast members include Jordan Patrick Smith ('Vikings', 'Neighbours'), Jamie Chung ('The Gifted', 'Sucker Punch') and Erica Tazel ('Justified').
