'Industry' is the latest series from HBO generating plenty of chatter online for its fast-paced, soapy approach to the world of international banking from a millennial's perspective.Fuelled by ambition, youth, romance and drugs, the show focuses on a group of graduates – Marisa Abela ('Cobra'), Harry Lawtey ('City Of Tiny Lights'), David Jonsson ('Deep State') and Nabhaan Rizwan ('Mogul Mowgli') – who arrive at a prestigious London bank competing for a limited number of permanent positions.
Also participating for a place is Harper Stern (Myha'la Herrold: 'The Tattooed Heart'), an upstate New York native with questionable if not sketchy education qualifications who uproots her life to pursue success in London.
As the graduates navigate the many pitfalls of international finance as well as a hyper-competitive eat or be eaten work place, there to guide them is Management: Conor MacNeill ('Artemis Fowl'), Freya Mavor ('Skins'), Will Tudor ('Game Of Thrones') and Ken Leung ('High Maintenance').
The show examines issues of gender, race, class, and privilege in the workplace within the pressure-cooker world of high finance where 'meritocracy is promised but hierarchy is king'.
Lena Dunham ('Girls') directs the first episode and also serves as an executive producer.
'Industry' will be available to watch/ stream on Foxtel and Binge from 1 February.
