Whoever says they're ‘too cool for school’ has obviously never been to Perth’s Girls School Cinema.
The team behind Fringe World Festival and Rooftop Movies, wowed Western Australian movie-goers last year with their unique pop-up cinema that revives the historical castle-like Old Perth Girls School site, which ceased operating as a school in 1962 into a cosy winter cinema.
After a successful inaugural season, Girls School Cinema returns to the iconic East Perth building with an exciting line-up that offers something for everyone.
Every Wednesday to Sunday until 12 October, Girls School Cinema will screen a variety of films from new releases like 'Avengers: End Game' and 'Top End Wedding', to cult classics like 'Wayne’s World' and 'Mean Girls' in the old-school hall, which has been decked out with bean bags and snuggle blankets.
If you’re looking for the ideal date night, the pop-up cinema offers 'premium couple lounge seating', which includes a double bean lounger in a reserved area, plus bottomless popcorn and two house drinks.
Another major addition to this year’s line-up is the Movie Marathon: Girls Night In, where movie buffs can take part in an epic nine-hour romantic movie marathon featuring beloved romantic comedies like 'The Notebook', 'Chasing Liberty', 'Ella Enchanted' and 'A Cinderella Story'.

This year, Girls School Cinema also offers some great movie snack options that would rival any school canteen menu. Moviegoers can pre-order pizza and sides from Mt Lawley hotspot, Mack Daddy’s New York Slice Pizza. The popular eatery also offers gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, which will be delivered right to the cinema.
While Northbridge gelateria Chicho Gelato have once again collaborated with the cinema on a series of artisan choc bombs that are available to purchase.
The school’s old courtyard has been decked out with fire pits for patrons to toast marshmallows and the foyer boasts a retro bar where Gage Roads beers and ciders, MadFish wines and warm, mulled wine are available to purchase.
