Fast-paced, quick-witted, engaging characters, and a plot that drops you in the deep end are just a few ways to describe 'Run', the new HBO drama-comedy series from 'Fleabag' and 'Killing Eve' creatives Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones.
With Merritt Wever ('Nurse Jackie') and Domhnall Gleeson ('Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker', and son of Brendan Gleeson), cast in the lead roles, 'Run' begins with Ruby (Wever), who abruptly leaves her normal, suburban life to reconnect with her college boyfriend Billy (Gleeson) after they made a pact 17 years earlier.
The pact: If either one of them texted the word 'RUN' and the other replied with the same, they would drop everything and meet in Grand Central Station [New York] and travel across America together.
Written by Jones and co-starring Waller-Bridge as a woman Ruby and Billy meet on their adventure, the first episode is a whirlwind affair; and with lavish servings of intrigue and innuendo, you'll feel like you've run a marathon as the credits roll but you'll want to lace up the sneakers staright away to go running again.
With several episodes directed by Australia's Kate Dennis, the ensemble cast features Rich Sommer ('Mad Men') as Ruby's husband; Canadian actor Tamara Podemski ('Coroner') who portrays police detective Babe Cloud; and veteran Archie Panjabi ('The Good Wife') as Billy's former PA.
