Flickerfest is Australia’s largest short film competition – and the only one with Academy accreditation and BAFTA recognition – that ensures all of the films screened each year are entertaining, inspiring and highly creative pieces of work.
Celebrating its 24th year as the most significant and dedicated short film event in the Australian landscape, Flickerfest will continue to present a world-class short film competition in 2015.
Kicking off in January at the historic art deco Bondi Pavilion directly on Bondi Beach Sydney under the stars, large audiences flock annually to experience inspirational and creative short films from around the globe in a uniquely iconic location. The 10 day Sydney festival will then be followed by a 50 venue national tour across all states.
The successful films screening at Flickerfest are united by their excellence within the short film genre, demonstrating short films’ role as a centre piece of innovation and creativity in global cinema. With over 2,200 entries from around the world in 2014, next year will see approximately 20 different short film programmes during the festival season, including: 14 programmes in competition consisting of 5 International, 6 Australian, 2 Documentary and 2 Greenflicks Environ shorts sessions.
As well as competitive programmes, Flickerfest will also present a number of showcase sessions including: ‘FlickerKids’, short films for shorties; a hilarious programme of Comedy Shorts; and a programme dedicated to shorts about relationships 'Love Bites’.
Flickerfest 2015 will host their short film competitions at Bondi Beach, 9-18 January, before touring the festival nationally from January to May.
