AACTA Award-winning Director Macario De Souza presents the uplifting, coming-of-age drama feature film ‘6 Festivals’.

‘6 Festivals’ premiered at the 2022 Sydney Film Festival to a sold-out audience. It follows Maxie (Rasmus King), Summer (Yasmin Honeychurch) and James (Rory Potter), all of whom share a deep bond and love for music. James has his sights set on a career as a promoter, Summer has an incredible singing voice, and Maxie is a maestro of mischief.

When James receives a devastating diagnosis, the three friends turn to the undeniable power of music and music festivals, to escape reality. ‘6 Festivals’ features Birri Gubba and Wonnarua woman Guyala Bayles and top Australian acts Dune Rats, G Flip, Bliss n Eso, B Wise, Peking Duk, Ruby Fields, Jerome Farah, Kobie Dee, and more. Plus, there’s footage shot at actual festivals.

The festival footage was shot at leading Australian music festivals and locations in Queensland, New South Wales and Canberra throughout 2020-2021. The film was inspired by Director/Co-Writer Macario’s personal experiences as a touring musician, music fan, surfer, and the environment he grew up in.

“Music festivals are a rite of passage for young Australians. Everything about that world is exciting to me,” Macario says.

“The pre-festival anticipation, the road trip, the surf along the way, the chance of love, lifetime memories with mates, your favourite bands live, the adrenaline of thousands of punters screaming, the after parties, the come down/hangover, the dreaded drive home and the excitement for the next festival! It’s a place where you can momentarily escape your normal world and lose yourself collectively with your crew.”

‘6 Festivals’ is in cinemas 11 August.
