'Central Intelligence' is a movie about a little Hart, a big Johnson, and a whole lotta laughs.
'Central Intelligence' follows the story of a one time, bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent and his unlikely partner, a former high school “big man on campus”.
In high school, Calvin 'Golden Jet' Joyner (Kevin Hart) was awarded ‘most likely to succeed’, but with the 20-year reunion imposing, he fears that he peaked in high school, and will fail to live up to his classmates expectations two decades later as an accountant.
In the days leading up to the reunion, he finds himself Facebook-befriended by high school bully victim, Bob Stone, aka Robbie Weirdicht (Dwayne Johnson), who suggests to catch up the day before. Before he knows it, the staid numbers-cruncher is dragged into a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and international espionage that could get them both killed, but would be a boss story if they survive.
What could easily be mistaken as another cop-based action is, in reality, a hilarious comedy about a CIA agent and a regular, old Joe who become unlikely partners and form a heartwarming bond. This is the first collaboration between Kevin Hart and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and based on the chemistry between the two in 'Central Intelligence', we hope it’s not the last.
The pair complement each other to provide an always-amusing, often-hilarious and surprisingly-affectionate action comedy that is perfect for anyone who is looking for a feel-good, action-based night out.
The plot provided enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat, with a big-name cast and an unanticipated happy ending that will keep you watching until the very last minute.
Most of all, the movie touches on the subject of bullying, bringing to light issues that are often hidden away or thrown out of proportion in blockbuster films. The movie addresses this in such a light-hearted manner, while also showing the ongoing effects that bullying can have on all those involved, which was another kudos moment for the writers of 'Central Intelligence'.
Johnson and Hart are like the ‘yin’ and ‘yang’, and together they prove that a little Hart and a big Johnson goes a long, long way.
