The Brisbane Underground Film Festival (BUFF) — ambitiously billed as "the most fun you can have in a dark room with strangers" — has announced its 2012 line-up.
Held at Brisbane Powerhouse from November 1-3, BUFF's mission statement is to screen recent, weird, low budget, risky and overlooked films to people whose curiosity goes beyond the megaplex. An "underground" film can be anything from highbrow (video art and experimental film) to low (gore and boobs), as evidenced by this year's lineup.
Thursday November 1
7pm - The Color Wheel (USA, directed by Alex Ross Perry) - A darkly comic, post-Jarmusch, post-mumblecore journey into family, relationships and unfulfilled dreams billed as "a future cult movie in the making".
