The Emirates British Film Festival's 2014 programme has been specially curated with award winning films that offer audiences the chance to delve into an exceptional collection of unique, groundbreaking and classic British films with star-studded Brit casts.


God Help The Girl'God Help The Girl'

With 21 titles including 13 Australian premieres, the Festival will kick-off nationally with war tale,'Testament of Youth'. A coming of age story about love, loss and war based on Vera Brittain’s memoir of World War I starring Alicia Vikander ('Anna Karenina') and Kit Harrington ('Game Of Thrones'). Closing the festival will be this year’s Toronto International Film Festival Grolsch People’s Choice Award winner and London Film Festival opener, 'The Imitation Game' which tells the gripping tale of coding pioneer Alan Turing ('Benedict Cumberbatch'), who was instrumental in cracking Nazi Germany’s Enigma code during the darkest days of World War II.

The programme will also host an array of award-winning titles with 'Mr. Turner' and 'God Help The Girl', directorial debuts with 'Litling', 'Snow In Paradise' and ''71'. Brisith comedies will light up the screen with titles including 'A Long Way Down', 'The Hooligan Factory', 'The Love Punch' and 'What We Did On Our Holiday'.

Other highlights include 'Jimmy's Hall', 'Miss Julie' and 'The Sea'. This year's specially curated 'Six From The '60s' retrospective captures an are that saw a turn of the tide in Brisith filmmaking with 'Billy Liar', 'Darling', 'The Italian Job', 'If...', 'Zulu' and 'A Hard Day's Night'.

The festival will also present a High Tea Special Event with the screening of documentary 'When The Queen Came To Town' by Maurice Murphy. Narrated by Bert Newton, vivid footage was shot by both onlookers and officials capturing Queen Elizabeth II visit to Australia in 1954, the film explores what this footage means to the recreation and reflection of the fabric of Australian society in a post-depression, post-war and pre-television Australia.

Exclusive to Palace Cinema locations, the British Film FestivalFestival will take place nationally from November in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane and Byron Bay.
