Blood, Money, Power: The True Story Of How New York City Brought Down The Mob

'Fear City: New York vs The Mafia' will be available on Netflix.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

From the producers of 'Don't F**k With Cats', the new Netflix doco-series, 'Fear City: New York vs The Mafia', paints a gritty, realistic portrayal of Mob life; a very different image to the glamourised storylines peddled by Hollywood.

"We approach the story from the point of view of law enforcement," Sam Hobkinson, who directed the limited series with "a panoramic view" of the era, says.

"From the wise guys in local social clubs running small-time shakedowns right up to. . . the attorneys and politicians dealing with the problem. They were all linked."

In the '70s, New York was owned by the Mob. 'Fear City' provides the inside story of the rise and fall of New York's most powerful Mafia families – the Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese and Lucchese gangs – and the end of the golden era of the Mob.

Through archival footage, never-before-heard recordings and new interviews, and with the full might of the FBI and an army of undercover agents, witness the bugging, the investigation, and the era-defining conclusion of the historic Mafia Commission Trial that changed everything.

'Fear City: New York vs The Mafia' will be available on Netflix from 22 July.
