'EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert'

Famed Australian director Baz Luhrmann is bringing ‘EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert’ on the road, starting in Australia. It’s the ‘EPiC’ world tour Elvis never had.

Baz Luhrmann will attend the Sydney premiere in February, of the one-of-a-kind cinematic experience inviting audiences to hear the King of Rock’n’roll sing and tell his story like never before. ‘EPiC’ celebrates the power and presence of Presley for a new generation – it’s Elvis in his own words revealing the entertainer, the musician, and the man behind the icon.

While ‘EPiC’ may have been created right here in Australia, on the Gold Coast, it’ll be sure to transport audiences to the golden era of 1970s Las Vegas. Remastered and reimagined, it’s more than just a documentary or concert film. It shows the King at the height of his powers – an enduring, charismatic global star on the ‘world tour’ he never got to have.

’EPiC’ will enjoy its Australian premiere as part of AACTA Festival, and Luhrmann will introduce the film at OpenAir Cinema in Sydney and hit a post-screening Q&A at IMAX Melbourne.

This will be Luhrmann’s first foray into non-scripted storytelling. . . Blurring the lines between film and live performance. He’ll draw on newly unearthed footage of Presley’s legendary Las Vegas residency and US tour, blending cutting-edge technology, a full orchestra and his unmistakable flair, to capture Elvis at his best: raw, intimate and electric.

Elvis Presley’s revolutionary sound and star status has inspired generations of performers. ‘EPiC’ aims to celebrate, showcase and capture his musical and vocal skills, along with his iconic performance and showmanship.

Tickets on sale 9 January.

’EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert’ opens in Australian cinemas 19 February.
