After premiering last week at WA Made Film Festival, the new Australian film 'Greenfield' will receive a theatrical release at The Backlot Perth next month (with further locations to follow).
The latest production from Halo Films, 'Greenfield' follows James who returns to a small town (the title of movie) in regional WA to rebuild his former life by winning back his ex-girlfriend, Kelly.
However, when Kelly's brother Michael divulges an explosive secret to James, everything is turned upside down as a dark shadow lingers over the local community. As violence, terror and idle innuendo erupts around James, 'Greenfield' builds towards a foreboding outcome.
Given the current debate and community outrage related to sexual assaults and violence against women, 'Greenfield' is a timely release that exposes difficult themes which society must collectively address (with urgency).
"Toxic masculinity can have crippling effects on society, it's time it was exposed and examined," Ian Hale, Halo Films Managing Director, says.
Directed by Julius Telmer, 'Greenfield' stars Liam Graham ('The Heights'), Ethan Tomas ('Cloudstreet') and Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik.
'Greenfield' releases at The Backlot Perth from 22 April, with further locations to follow.
