5 Signs That Reality TV Has Gone To Far With Shameem

Shameem
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Socially-conscious Perth neo-soul songstress Shameem has announced a national, solo tour. Normally complemented by her five-piece band, for this tour Shameem will perform intimate, solo shows accompanying herself on keyboard.

It’s been a busy 2015 for this self-managed, independent artist, who has released a new album, 'The Second City', undertaken a national tour with her full band, performed in Toronto at Canadian Music Week, done supports for Michael Bolton and Anthony Callea and been nominated for two prestigious songwriting awards – all in the first half of 2015.

Here, Shameem lists five signs that reality TV has gone to far.

1. MasterPlumber

Forget MasterChef… follow your favourite DIY plumbers as they battle it out for the honour of being crowned Australia’s MasterPlumber! A book deal is included in the grand prize.

2. The Biggest Recoveree

Obesity isn’t the only malady that’s plaguing our society… we follow the journey of these struggling Aussies, as they fight to overcome their chronic illnesses in a matter of just a few months, in a bid to become the Biggest Recoveree!

3. So You Think You Can Graduate?

These aspiring university students have to take a new exam every week in a subject that they’ve never studied before, and the whole exam will be condensed into a pop quiz that’s only last 90 seconds.

4. Loner

A secluded young man, looking for a friend in the world. Twenty-five decent human beings are competing to be chosen as his best buddy. With shows like this, who needs The Bachelor?

5. Australian MC

Each week you’ll see our talented, young hopefuls take on a new rap song (never original of course), and it’s down to your vote to determine which one will win a much coveted dead-end recording contract! Episodes are embellished with footage of the contestants glamorous back-stories.
