Gympie’s Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival has built a reputation for its programming, bringing the world’s most uplifting films to regional audiences.
The festival’s mission is to make the viewer smile, sigh, think and laugh out loud. Heart of Gold’s programme is all about rediscovering the wonderment of life. In 2015 the film festival, which takes place in October, attracted the patronage of Wayne Blair, Director of acclaimed film 'The Sapphires' and star of 'Redfern Now'. "I am grateful to be asked to be the patron for this festival,” he says.
“I jumped at the opportunity. Heart of Gold offers a chance to see stories from many different parts of the world and from all over Australia. An event not to be missed."

The feel good short film festival which started in rural Queensland nine years ago, is embarking on a roadshow to Adelaide. The highlights will screen at Producer's Hotel later this month, and the festival's Ambassador, Michaela Banks, is excited to be embarking south. “It’s a pleasure and privilege to screen our favourites from the festival…as well as experiencing incredibly creative and well-crafted films, you’ll leave this event feeling positive about humanity which can be hard to come by these days.
“A big part of our Adelaide event is getting the word out to filmmakers all over Australia about Heart of Gold. I hope that this screening in Adelaide gives a taste of the atmosphere we’ve created in Gympie and will encourage South Australians to make the ‘filmgrimage’ to Gympie in October.”
