5 Movie Monsters With The Plastic Fangs

Slimer from 'Ghostbusters'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

After 14 years of making psychedelic surf tunes, Brisbane rockers The Plastic Fangs have decided to hang up their guitars and throw away their drumsticks.

But not before one, final party to celebrate the release of a split cassette release with their oldest gig buddies King Kongo.

Before their local show at The Bearded Lady this weekend (2 December) with special guests Marmaleene and the Moondusters and The Von Hauntes, The Plastic Fangs indulge their love of cinematic monsters with a top 5 list. Boo.

5. Mothra

The way Mothra handled Godzilla was both sensual and flappy.

4. Slimer.

He's moist and green, just like our sound.

3. The Mum at the end of Braindead

When her stomach opens and leading man is eviscerating her, it's both Freudian and violent. New Zealand cinema's finest moment.

2. The child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Just look at that face.

1. Ed Rooney the headmaster from Ferris Bueller's Day Off

He should have eaten that gummy bear.

The Plastic Fangs and King Kongo play The Bearded Lady (Brisbane) 2 December.
