5 Films To See At Fleurieu Film Festival In South Australia

'My Light'

The Fleurieu Film Festival is a competitive event that takes place in McLaren Vale.


Ten finalists will present their films to audiences in the hope of scoring some of the $15,000 worth of prizes.

Here is a list of five films part of the festival.

'My Light'

Produced by Carolyn Corkindale, directed by Rebecca Duncker. Eight-year-old Jenny lives with her father David in a South Australian lighthouse in 1970. He gifts her an old mining helmet with a light which she uses to fight the shadows closing in on her. But when her father is drafted into the war, Jenny realises that shining a light on some situations doesn’t always make them brighter.

'Wishing You Well'

Directed by Carolyn Corkindale. A young orphaned boy is shown an old well and makes a poignant wish, contained in a bottle, which he drops into the water. To his surprise, he receives a reassuring answer – a drawing with a message.

Directed by Dave Wade, produced by Kelly Carpenter and Maxx Corkindale. An inept tour guide takes a group for a walk through a future Great Barrier Reef that's a little different from today, but what it will be due to Global Warming.

Slingshot

'Slingshot'

Directed by David Hansen, produced by Margo Lowry. An amusing analogy on modern love through the eyes of one of its latest victims.

The Fleurieu Film Festival takes place at Serafino Wines on 11 February.
