5 Fictional Psycho Bitches With Nussy

Nussy
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Melbourne synth-pop starlet Nussy will tonight (17 July) launch her newest single, 'My Heroin', in Melbourne before a Sydney launch next month.

“'My Heroin' is about being involved in a toxic relationship,” describes Nussy. “It's like an addiction where something else within you takes over and you can't make logical decisions – hence the reference to the drug heroin; that even at the very lowest of the low points, you convince yourself that the highs are worth it.”

Nussy has drawn inspiration from the film clip to list her favourite, psycho bitches all-time from the movies.

Jane Hudson (Bette Davis) - 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane'

Baby Jane is the epitome of a mental case. She lives in a fantasy world because she can't deal with her forgotten former glory. Meanwhile, she is fiercely jealous of her sister, Blanche, who surpassed Jane in fame and became a Hollywood starlet. Blanche is in a wheelchair because Jane ran over her in a car in a fit of rage – cray.

Best scene: Jane kills Blanche's bird and prepares it for Blanche's lunch. She cackles in delight when Blanche realises what she's done. Bonus, crazy points: 'I've Written A Letter To Daddy'.

Gogo Kubari (Chiaki Kuriyama) - 'Kill Bill'

Gogo is a bad bitch who kills people because she gets a thrill out of it. The fact she's 19 and wears her school uniform adds to her bat-shit persona.

Best scene: Gogo duels The Bride. She wields a spiky ball on a chain and she's pretty lethal with it too.

Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) - 'Misery'

Annie Wilkes is your classic, crazy cat-lady gone bad. Having learned her favourite author killed-off her favourite character in a book series, she kidnaps him and locks him in her house, forcing him to resurrect the series. She slowly becomes more psycho as she begins to enjoy the power she holds over him. Classic case of lonely lady pushed to the edge of insanity.

Best scene: When he tries to escape, Annie maims him so he is bound to a wheelchair and is stuck with her.

Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) - 'Carrie'

Carrie is the school 'loner'. The kids at school bully her because she's shy and a bit weird, but little do they know she is telekinetic. Her Christian-fundamentalist mother thinks she is a demon and abuses her at home.

Best Scene: When Carrie get's pigs blood poured on her at the prom, she snaps and locks everyone in the gym and causes a fire with her mind. Full cray.

The Evil Queen - 'Snow White'

The Queen is a vindictive step-mother who is jealous of her step-daughter Snow White's beauty. The driving force in her obsession with being 'the fairest in the land' is a talking magic mirror (did someone say hallucinations?).

Best scene: To get rid of Snow White once and for all, the Queen orders the Huntsman to take Snow White into the forrest and kill her and cut out her heart as a token. Grotesque psycho.
