After announcing a huge, first round line-up earlier this year, earthcore are currently touring 'One Night In...'.
The series is headlined by Goa-scene veterans, film-soundtrack composers ('Matrix Reloaded' and 'Revolutions') and all-round, electronic-music legends Juno Reactor, who will be making their long-awaited return to Australia, alongside New Zealand's Grouch, a veteran of the international-outdoor festival and trance scene since the '90s.
Juno Reactor
With shows in Hobart, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne last week, the series continues this weekend in Brisbane and Byron Bay. With their cinematic history, we asked Juno Reactor to compose their favourite, movie soundtracks of all time.
1. Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions
Well I have to say this don’t I! :) I spent six months in LA writing it, sometimes with Don Davis, but mainly alone in a mansion in Silverlake, LA. Orchestras, choirs… almost anything I needed I had at my disposal. The Wachowski’s were brilliant to work for and they had no ego whatsoever. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I was in heaven.{youtube}yFGQDdQ2lYc{/youtube}
2. Lawrence Of Arabia
This was made in a time before computer manipulations and it still sounds brilliant. An amazing score.{youtube}jdFwhhH2x7I{/youtube}
3. Blade Runner
Vangelis is a definite one off and unique producer. Simple and beautiful with Vangelis’ unique touch, it’s hard to imagine a film these days being produced with the same approach. Fun fact: this score was reportedly hated by Ridley Scott who wanted to have it replaced!{youtube}3VgNoKc_Gdw{/youtube}
4. Birdman
I absolutely loved this score! It’s so unusual to hear solo drums backing up the scenes. It’s very clever and really great playing. I am sure by now it’s been sampled to death.{youtube}mtSvfTXrZWA{/youtube}
5. Gravity
Steven Price is the composer and it’s definitely one of the best, modern scores today. Using everything from old to new techniques, this score definitely made an amazing film even better.{youtube}K3-YGVb6Tbw{/youtube}
