An adaption of Joanna Rakoff's 2014 memoir novel of the same title, 'My Salinger Year' features Margaret Qualley ('Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood') as Joanna, an unpublished, idealistic poet who heads to New York in the mid '90s with grand plans for her future.

She lands a job as an assistant to Sigourney Weaver's Margaret, a brusque and old-fashioned literary agent (she doesn't believe in computers: "I've seen them in action and they just create more work for everyone.").

Joanna's dreams to become a published author are soon doused by her new workload that involves transcribing audio tapes by day, with her nights spent in the sink-less Brooklyn apartment shared with her socialist boyfriend (Douglas Booth: 'The Dirt').

Margaret's most renowned client is the reclusive J.D. Salinger and Joanna is soon tasked the job of answering his ceaseless fan mail with the office's impersonal, pre-formulated responses.

When Joanna begins to personally respond to the letters (she's supposed to destroy them once they've been answered), she soon discovers her own writing voice and a world of opportunities – if she wants to risk it.
