One of Hollywood's most hated characters, right up there with Darth Vader and Hannibal Lector, Netflix is about to drop a new series that explores the origins of Nurse Mildred Ratched.

The unforgettable character from Ken Kesey's 1962 novel 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', who was played by Louise Fletcher in the 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson, 'Ratched' features Sarah Paulson ('American Horror Story', 'Mrs America') in the title role.

Beginning in 1947, the series follows Ratched's journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster, tracking her murderous progression through the mental health care system.

From American screenwriter, director, and producer Ryan Murphy ('American Horror Story', 'Glee', 'Hollywood'), who discovered the original script by Evan Romansky, 'Ratched' also features Cynthia Nixon ('Sex And The City'), Judith Davis ('Life With Judy Garland'), Sharon Stone ('Basic Instinct', 'Mosaic') and Charlie Carver ('The Leftovers').

'Ratched' is coming to Netflix from 18 September, 2020.
