Kentucky Fried Chicken are hoping to introduce a new element to their crunchy and succulent menu in the near future – beer and cider.
Having applied for a liquor license, KFC hope to open a new store in Parramatta's CBD where they will be able to serve a small selection of alcohol. This introduction will bring Kentucky into the loop of swaggy fast food providers like Mad Mex, Nando's, Guzman Y Gomez and Grill'd.
But of course there are multiple health advocates calling for rejection of the liquor license. The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) have released a statement which says before KFC gain approval, ILGA will need to be satisfied that the overall social impact of the proposal will not be detrimental to the well-being of the local or broader community.
With the KFC Big Bash cricket tournament currently screening, questions are being raised over whether associating KFC with alcohol is a good idea – because associating greasy fast food with professional sport is perfectly acceptable.
