Last Saturday, 10 October, I rocked up to William Dart Park with some sensible shoes, all-white clothing, a can-do attitude and a bit of a sweat.
Here I was in this park, wondering when does the run begin? And where do we run? You could say I was mildly confused. And then it hit me. This wasn’t one of those colour runs. I was not set to run 5km, and I definitely wasn’t on my way to collecting buckets of my own sweat. I had entered a festival.

I don't mind a run, especially if it's for something exciting like this, but a small weight was lifted off my shoulders when I saw the line-up, and confirmed that it was indeed a festival. No running for this slow one! So with that shelved, I proceeded into the festival to check it out.

Now when I say festival, you may picture some intensely large domain in which you have Google Maps dictating where you are going. But the ball was in a completely different park. And there wasn't much room to throw that ball. Albeit small, it was still manoeuvrable and had a lot to offer. There was a little, photo booth, an amazing array of foods (even Govindas was there) and ample shade to escape the inevitable summer rolling our way.
The best part about the festival was its ethos and mission towards 'cultivating the human spirit'. Seeing people of all ages enjoying being together, having fun and throwing colours was more than worth it for me, and this type of festival that celebrates it should be cultivated itself, considering it is a not-for-profit event as well.
