After many hours spread across a number of days, Triple J’s Sarah Howells has finally brushed the last dreadlock out.
The radio presenter had had the dreads for ten years, but decided to brush away the ‘hippie’ look to raise money for Beyond Blue.
But did any hairbrushes come to grief during the removal of tangled hair? “Surprisingly, I didn’t break any!” declares Sarah.
“But I did all of it with the end of a metal tailcomb, so I was pretty prepared. It took over 100 hours, by my estimation... pretty crazy, and I’m pretty glad that it’s all done now!
“[I’m] heading to the hairdresser on Friday to get a proper haircut... for the first time in ten years. Weird. Also, I lost 200g of hair along the way (which is pretty much just the hair that we all lose every day, except mine has been stuck in my locks for ten years)... gross!"
