British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has 'come out' publicly this week in his cover story interview with Fader.
It's been a busy seven days for the 22-year-old — Smith’s debut album In the Lonely Hour was also released this week, the embodiment of his recent work which celebrates and laments love in its various states.
He rose to fame in October 2012 when he was featured on Disclosure's breakthrough single Latch, which peaked at number eleven on the UK chart. His subsequent feature on Naughty Boy's La La La earned him his first number one single on the chart in May 2013.
