Physicist Invents Colour Changing Ice-Cream!

While many physicists may be working on string theory or quantum computing, Manuel Linares from Barcelona has turned his attention to something else entirely – ice-cream.

The Spanish physicist and now professional chef has invented a ‘magical’ ice-cream that changes colour as you lick it. Supposedly it tastes like tutti-frutti and includes banana, strawberries, pistachio, cocoa, almonds, caramel and vanilla.

With the assistance of his colleagues, Linares created the cold treat that changes from blue to pink to purple when you eat it using a super secret formula that he claims is made entirely using natural, dairy-free ingredients. He calls his creation Xamaleón.

So how does it work? Well no one really knows but the ice-cream, which is pale blue in colour is sprayed with a spirit 'love elixir'. The spirit accelerates the colour-changing process. The transformation is a treat to the eye as it takes 15 seconds to change and can be viewed as it is happening.

Lineares is also working on two new ice-cream flavours. One will react to ultraviolet lights in clubs, while another will turn from white to pink as it’s eaten.
