Literary lovers and bargain hunters, it's time to throw caution to the wind and head down to the Convention Centre for the Lifeline Bookfest.
Running January 19-28, this year's Bookfest will have close to two million books for sale, encompassing the usual array of genres including history, Australiana, new age, humour, fiction, children's, hobbies, cook books, text books, science fiction, comics and classics, as well as selling second-hand vinyls, puzzles, boardgames, stationery... even VHS's and cassettes.
In a welcome change, this January's Bookfest will be open for longer hours so people who work a nine to five job can actually come along and get involved. With over four kilometres of books, Bookfest has earnt the status of the biggest second-hand book sale in the world, and all funds raised support Lifeline and UnitingCare Community programs for individuals, families, women and children.
So put a day or two aside and take the time to trawl through a few kilometres of books ranging from as cheap as under $1, and dig deep for charity while expanding your literary intake.
