Knock dead nights on the head with Knock Knock Booze There, Brisbane’s only alcohol delivery service.
Have you ever found yourself at home or at a party and miles away (perhaps both physically and mentally) from the nearest bottle shop? Have you wished there was a way in which drinks could be delivered to your door without you having to leave the house? If you’re the kind of person who thinks these things, then Billy Grantley’s venture Knock Knock Booze There is right up your alley.
Locally owned and operated from Brisbane’s West End, the brand’s premise is simple: order the alcohol on the company’s website and sit back and wait for one of their delivery cars to pull up at your door.
With a boutique selection of beers, wines and some stronger stuff to choose from, Billy is confident there is something to be found for everyone in the experience. “We have a focus on good quality alcohol rather than quantity.
“A lot of stuff we sell is locally owned, independent and we try and help out other, small businesses where we can. Most bottle shops are owned by big chains and have agreements with large manufacturers and suppliers, so they can’t be as flexible with the range they stock. It’s early days but we’d love to be a place where smaller brands can build some awareness and trial.
“Knock Knock Booze There grew out of necessity really,” Billy continues. “All through my 20s we'd always be at parties and run out of alcohol and not be able to get to the bottle shop, and we'd wish there was a service that delivered. There were some guys who were doing it down in Sydney who we used as inspiration, but we're the only people doing it in Brisbane.”
Compared to your stock-standard bottle shop prices, the overall cost of convenience does add up a little, with the prices of the products being a little above average and the delivery itself adding a surcharge.
But it seems since the brand’s launch at the beginning of June this has proved to be of little concern to those who favour quality drinks and the handiness of home delivery. “Our target market is 25-35 year olds, male and females.” Billy says.
“We found that the younger kids don't really have the money to pay for delivery and are generally more thrifty with their alcohol purchases, but for the guys that have just started their careers and don't have kids it's been working really well.
“Single mums as well, you know after they've got their kids to bed, they can't get to the bottle shop to get a bottle of wine so they've been using the service as well and it's been really cool.”
Knock Knock Booze There is currently only knocking on the doors of those in the inner-city, but with the early success of the brand, Billy hope to extend the company’s reach to cover most of Brisbane. “It's early days, but it's been growing every week. The plan's to build on it week by week, the hope is by next year we'll have moved our area out.
“Currently we're servicing inner-city suburbs and Camp Hill, Ashgrove and Wooloowin, but we want to move into Ipswich, Logan and the Northern Corridor.
“Whether it’s a night on the couch that becomes a hangout, a hangout that becomes a shindig or a shindig that becomes a dining room disco we can have cold booze delivered with ice and mixers in a matter of minutes.”
