Is eBay The New Myer?

Ever walked past one of those small kiosks in the city, inquired about the price of a simple imitation leather iPhone case then immediately walked off after hearing it'll set you back fifty bucks?

If you've actually bought one of those cases, you obviously haven't got an eBay account (and you still have dial up too, don't you?).

Teens and young adults are now, more than ever, opting to purchase small goods like phone cases via sites like eBay, and, here's the kicker, for a much cheaper price. If you haven't cottoned on to this growing trend, now is your chance.

Nana InternetOf course eBay isn't just for buying and selling cheap phone cases, you can get your hands on anything from a used Britney tissue to a BMW.

eBay's profits last year were estimated to be in the billions, and as for savvy consumers, studies have suggested they save at least 10 percent on their purchases, racking up to millions of dollars in savings globally. Not bad for a site that used to be a trading post for Beanie Babies.

“I get a lot of my stuff from eBay and online in general. I've been selling and buying on it for like four years” says eBay user Teisha Schirmer.

Matt Serrurier, also a frequent online shopper believes there is an evident price difference in electronics and clothing prices online compared to department stores. “Stuff is a lot cheaper online so I usually check eBay and ASOS before I actually go to the shops.”

So if you're in the market for a new case, do you research online first.
