Over the past few years, The Beer Lovers Guide To Australia has introduced plenty of Australians to the world of craft beer by highlighting venues and breweries around the nation. This year's edition of the guide focuses on education, which is why beer lover Mark Midro has put together this informative list of Australia's top five craft beers.
1. Hop Hog by Feral Brewing (WA) — Arguably the best IPA (India Pale Ale) in Oz. Voted number one by the Critics this year (Critics Choice Top 100 - Australia’s Best Beers).
2. Stone and Wood - Pacific Ale (NSW) — Byron’s best export, perfect in summer. One to try if you’re not a keen beer drinker. My wife only drinks this beer.
3. Little Creatures - Pale Ale (WA) — Now almost everywhere across Oz, this is one of the first beers to try if you’re new to the craft beer world.
4. Four Hearts - Pale Ale (QLD) — A quiet achiever, and probably the one on this list you may never have heard of, but worth a mention. QLD’s craft beer is the fastest growing part of the industry. Other breweries to mention in QLD are Bacchus Brewing, Burleigh Brewing, Blue Sky, and Townsville Brewery, to name a few.
5. James Squire - Lashes Pale Ale — The original craft brewer, everyone knows the story of this convict-turned-brewer. Lashes is the current favorite for this summer.
