Not even the 30 degree, spring heat nor the G20-security inspired road closures stopped punters from heading to The Old Museum for The Finders Keepers Indie Art & Design Market on Saturday 8th November.
Families, fashionistas, Christmas shoppers and general fans of the FK movement flowed from all directions to check out the market’s Spring/ Summer offerings. The heritage-listed building was just as beautifully decorated as many of the handmade goodies on show, guaranteeing an enjoyably hot (drink stalls were a definite hit) day of shopping, food and sounds.
Founded in Sydney in 2008, the bi-annual event first launched in Brisbane back in 2009 and features the works of emerging designers and artists from all over the country.
The three, main rooms plus the balcony of The Old Museum was filled clothes, jewellery, homewares, baby products, art, beard wax, craft, stationery and plant life. There were over 85 stalls each showcasing unique vision and skill.

Creep Heart accessories and art, Sconnie And Jam handmade arts and craft and Brother’s Footwear were just some of the Brisbane designers to feature at FK.

The day’s mood was active and squashy with non-stop crowds entering the grounds, designers busily networking and educating about their product, and guests taking time to get a glimpse at each stall.

Outside in the garden, umbrella’d tables were full, as well as all shaded corners of the grounds as folk singer Bec Sandridge sweetly serenaded people enjoying their nachos and fruit-iced teas.

The day was a complete visual and artistic success, endorsing the country and the city’s emerging talents and providing the public with a lovely day out.
