Calling all baby dolls, big daddies and bombshell divas – Kitsch In The Swich is back and it’s set to burst some bubbles.
The Kitsch team at Ipswich City Square have been inspired to add a whole new component to the already packed line-up, with the introduction of Brighton Beach ’53. For just one day, a beach complete with wading pools and sand will pop-up in Ipswich City Square, to magically transport visitors to the gorgeously colourful seaside settings of the 1950s. Think colourful beach huts, canvas deck chairs, bright stripy umbrellas, seaside donkey rides and even a traditional Punch & Judy puppet show.
Families will be able to picnic on Brighton Beach, relax on the deck chairs and watch the world go by, while the kids build sandcastles or play in the water.
Brighton Beach ’53 will complement the traditional Kitsch offer of Pin-up Parades, Prom King and Queen Pageant, Bombshell Makeovers and Style Sessions with the divine Miss Chrissy from the Lindy Charm School for Girls. There will also be some toe-tapping, swing dancing with Swing a Billy Ray, live music on the rotunda, and of course, the vintage and retro fashion and collectables markets.
And as if the addition of Brighton Beach ’53 isn't enough to tickle your old-bones, this year Kitsch In The Swich is partnering with Cool Cruises Car Club. So prepare your pride and joy or reminisce about your old baby while strolling around the some 250 Fords, Holdens, classic cars and American muscle cars in the CBD.
Get ready for Ipswich to come alive with the sounds of Rockabilly tunes and swing-tastic music, accompanied by the throaty purr of a couple of hundred engines.
