An Oregon couple have attempted to invent a new form of currency after coming up short on cash at a local restaurant.
The Oregonian reports that Ryan Benson, 40, and Erica Manley, 37, who are both suspected crystal meth dealers, left their waitress an envelope filled with methamphetamine at the Twisted Fish Steakhouse in Seaside, Oregon.
They had initially tried to use a gift card as payment; when that didn't work, they offered up the totally inconspicuous envelope filled with meth, which had a scribbled question mark on the front. (Presumably, their next trick would have been to hand over a bag of money with a dollar sign on the front.)
The waitress took the envelope and then, according to The Oregonian, "calmly walked away and called the police". The couple were arrested shortly afterwards when authorities obtained a search warrant and found a makeshift lab at a nearby Holiday Inn Express.
The couple wait for their meal.
Criminal masterminds Benson and Manley were still at the restaurant when police showed up with two pairs of handcuffs, probably because they hadn't been given their after-dinner mints yet.
