Four Seasons condom ad banned

Four Seasons condoms have created a gem of an ad which hasn't passed first base as far as advertising standards are concerned.


The Aussie ad depicts a couple simulating a variety of sex positions around a chemist's shop.

Graham Porter, Managing Director of the company that distributes Four Seasons told scenestr: "The ad was designed to be appealing to Australian youth, a bit edgy and irreverent. Gary Eck wrote and directed the ad for us. As a stand-up comedian Gary knows how to make people laugh. When he pitched us the concept for the ad, he had us in stitches, we have been really impressed with his artistic vision.



"We want to normalise condom use. The best way of doing this is to show it's an everyday occurrence to buy condoms, not that we suggest shagging on the chemist shop floor to try before your buy just yet, but hey, what's wrong with having a fitting room?

"The highest users of condoms are young men and woman between the ages of 16 to 24. They are a tough crowd to communicate with so the combination of humour, sex and nakedness was an obvious fit for The Naked Condom. It's no use preaching to someone 'you must use a condom', after a while they just tune out. It's really important that they want to use a condom because its fun and its relevant. In our experience this is the best way to get the safe sex message out there."

The 30-second spot was nixed by Nacs with the request to "remove all sexual acts" when it was submitted for approval to run on free-to-air tv.
