Something playful has been brewing in the heart of suburban Brisbane and is ready to be exposed to the public.
Positioned perfectly on the corner of Latrobe and Given Terraces in Paddington, Club Sosay has obviously been in the works for some time as it quite clearly and cleverly covers all the bases; Club Sosay is a board games cafe and bar.
Bragging over 250 different games and friendly staff who can teach you how to play, Club Sosay offers a board games' heaven (from nostalgic childhood games to more complex, contemporary games).
The idea for the cafe was inspired by the insane amount of time we spend on our smartphones. “Even when people go out to socialise they spend more time on their devices than talking to each other,” says Club Sosay owner Debbie Seipel. “We are rapidly losing the art of conversation.”
If you happen to be (forever) alone, the cafe is designed so that you can be paired with others for games, or a chat at the Conversation tables.
A second venue will be opening in St Lucia in the near future (so UQ students will have a new form of procrastination close at hand) with future openings slated for the Sunshine Coast and interstate.
