5 Studio Snacks With Wishes

Toobs

The moniker of John Towey, Wishes is a Sydney-based musician and producer, composing beats that are a brew of pop, psychedelic and electronic.

Previously a member of low-fi pop quartet Convaire, Towey is looking to take these skills and channel into his solo endeavours. The debut offering is the single 'I Want To Be Alone With You’, an upbeat synth track.

With plenty of time spent in the studio of late, Wishes shares his favourite snacks to indulge in.

5. Sherbies

When it comes to Allens lollies mixes, Sherbies are my poison. Where I work they have one of those charity boxes that works on an honesty system where you get three lollies for a dollar and the money goes to a third-world country; I'm not sure you can get Sherbies anymore outside of charity lolly-boxes. Because of this, I am probably responsible for the construction of at least three Columbian orphanages.

4. Subway Cookies

The less time spent in the oven the better. White macadamia is the best, and choc chip are like an old reliable friend. However, double choc is just too much. The M&M variety are a rare, yet precious bounty.

3. Caramel Popcorn

A fine delicacy that I discovered late in life. Usually when it comes to confectionary items I'm of the persuasion that the cheaper the better, however in the case of caramel popcorn you've got to splash out and go for one of the high-end brands. Also be sure to check the use by date – caramel popcorn does not age well.

2. Teasers

These are pretty new to the market – for those who aren't aware, these are like Maltesers in bar form. I've never done crack, but I imagine it is something like these. They are marketed as a 'limited time only item', but I'm anticipating there will be a campaign to make these a permanent fixture.

1. Toobs

I admit it, I've never been a Cheezel or Twisties man. However, when I happened upon a Toob, I knew I had found the key to my heart. I'm not exactly sure what a Toob is suppose to be, but they are the overachieving child of a Burger Ring and a Cheezel. After years off the scene they were relaunched in 2007 with the tagline 'Toobs Are Back', and everything was right in the world. They have, however, been recently discontinued, and we are all left to live a harsh Toob-free existence.
