5 NBA Players From The '90s With Onra

Mark Jackson

Parisian producer and Red Bull Music Academy alumni Onra will tour Australia in May/ June as as part of the free, monthly Red Bull Music Academy Club Night series.

We asked Onra to supply a Top 5 of his choice: “Because in sport, just like in music, it's not all about the champions, the most famous or who sells the most - eventually, they are all amazing athletes [artists]. Here's my Top 5 NBA players from the 1990s.”

1. Reggie Miller

He became my all-time favourite player once Michael Jordan first retired in 1993. Even though he's never won anything, his reputation as a trash-talker and clutch three-point shooter made me love his style.

2. Dana Barros

Arguably the nicest player to ever get on the mic (check Dana Barros 'Check It'); I love his style of playing and he was super aggressive for his short size (1.80m).

3. Dale Ellis

His career started in the 1980s, but I only heard of him in the '90s because he was the first player to score 1,000 three-point shots. This was, and still is, my best skill as a player, that's why I've always looked up to this guy.

4. Mark Jackson

He was ill with the ball skills, always down to put on a show and throw no-look passes followed by his copyrighted jiggling dance moves. He's a preacher now! [Ed's note: Mark is also an sports TV analyst for ESPN]

5. Nick Van Exel

I remember he was a fan favourite as soon as he got in the league. He was real flashy and because he was left-handed; it looked real awkward at times.
