Steph Taylor will bring together a collection of Brisbane’s best jazz musicians (Jazz Australis) to perform at the Brisbane Jazz Club next week.
The local jazz musician has collected a group of her friends (Dave Spicer, Andrew Shaw and Dave Cotgreave) to perform jazz and original jazz standards with a few anecdotes thrown in.
Steph shares five of her favourite places in Brisbane.
1. The Teneriffe to New Farm Park Riverwalk and Bikeway
I love this stretch of Brisbane. It has great appeal being flat. I can ride my bike and still feel like I've really achieved something by the end. This is perfect for the lazy, non-Lycra-clad conformist bike rider like yours truly.2. Kerbside
A mighty fine selection of beers at the bar, a treasure trove of secondhand furniture, Thomas Edison hanging lights, hip hop beats. Kerbside has the best vibes in Brisbane when you want to avoid the chaos of the Valley. Have I sold you on this place yet? Get your hipster on and check it out.3. The Bowery
I love hanging here when I get the chance to listen to some live music. Again, I'm all about the aesthetic (without trying to sound like a complete fool), so the appeal of this place is the exposed brick walls and cosiness that it brings when you're spending a night out and having a champagne with friends.4. Belissimo
Take me to Wandoo St, take me to Oxford St. They know my name for a reason. I'm there everyday getting my coffee because it's the place to be if you like a good cup of Joe.5. Sampson and Sophie at Teneriffe
Hands down this cafe does the best breakfast in Brisbane. A big call I know but just trust me on this. They have a sense of home cooking that can only match what your Mum makes for you when you go home to visit your family. Also, you can pick up a last-minute gift inside this quaint, little cafe.Steph Taylor and Jazz Australis play the Brisbane Jazz Club 28 May.
