British tech startup 'RBP' wants hipster hair and clothing. Fast. Their Renewable Brick Project has created a unique process to combine human facial hair and cotton fibres to make a variety of renewable products including bricks and insulation.
Hipster bricks can be used to build/ rebuild challenged communities around the world.
Perth rockers, The Nits, and Sydney outfit The Beards have agreed to donate facial fuzz and on-trend ochre-brown clothing to the project. It's hoped this high-profile move will inspire hipsters everywhere to donate their when fashions inevitably change.
"Hipsters have an abundance of both these resources, and Australia has an abundance of hipsters," says British fashion retailer, Robert Styles, who is part of the management team at RBP and in Australia to promote the project.
"We don't want hipsters to shave in shame and flush this vital fruit. We're encouraging them to collect it and donate. We're working with hairdressers to secure a network of stylists in Australia, England and the US who will bag hipster hair shedded in salons."
"Same with the brown/ ochre pants that flooded western fashion markets 18 months ago. The dye is our preferred colouring for the bricks — if we don't have to add colour, the project retains its five-star eco-rating. "We know hipsters have two or three pairs, so outlets like St. Vinnies will not be able to cope with the supply when the time comes.
In Australia, clothing donations can be made to St Vincent De Paul and the The Salvation Army.
