The daughter of Australia's beloved zookeeper and conservationist, Steve Irwin, Bindi has made her family and Australia proud in her debut on the US 'Dancing With The Stars'.

A high-energy Crocodile Rock Jive with dance partner Derek Hugh saw the 17-year-old receive a standing ovation – and a few tears from mum Terri who can be seen cheering with son Robert in the crowd.

"My mum always said any time dad would watch me dancing around the zoo he would cry," Bindi said after the routine. "I think the real reason I'm doing this is to make him proud and to make everyone at home in Australia proud... I think everyone is going to see a whole new side to Bindi."

And it wasn't just the audience who loved the toe-tapping routine. "From the bush to the ballroom," said judge Julianne Hough. "The flicks, the kicks, the face, the fun - this is what this competition is about. That was the best performance of the night."

"It had a finish that was so wonderful to see in week one," said Bruno Tonioli, who recently spent a stint judging the Australian DWTS. The Italian judge also went on to call Bindi a ray of sunshin and a "wonder from Down Under."

Tied with former Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter for the top score of the night, the Sunshine Coast teen has proved she's not all about jiving with crocs and teaching the world about animal conservation. And she sure does look dazzling in both khaki and sequins.
