Top 5 Things To Do In Bed According To Sian Evans

Sian Evans with the other members of The Rusty Datsuns

Sian Evans' life-long journey with music has seen her explore the continent playing numerous festivals while connecting with the full spectrum of professional musicians.

As the leading vocals behind Brisbane's harmonising flood-folksters, The Rusty Datsuns, Sian has recently been re-focusing on her solo songwriting and performances.

Her latest offering, 'How Time Has Treated Thee', features a few renditions of traditional, folk songs (‘Blackest Crow’, ‘Worried Mary’), a couple of boutique covers (‘Close Your Eyes’, ‘Delia’), and the lead single and film clip 'Take Me Home', which scenestr will premiere on Monday, 15 December.

This Sunday (14 December), Sian will be performing at The Bearded Lady in West End, Brisbane, and she has enlisted her Datsun accomplices to accompany her.

We asked Sian for a Top 5 list; she didn’t need to leave her bed to supply one: top five things to do in bed. “Yes, my bed is a major foundation of life.”

1. Squeeze a feather pillow and mentally gesticulate on the day’s events; in which order they will commence on exiting the bed, while listening to my mind wrestle with my tired body about how we should together get the fuck up and out, all the while beating off the ever growing amount of ‘zeds’ trying to cram their way through my doorway with intentions of sitting on my eyelids.

2. Cuddle and spoon. Whether it be with my son, significant other or one of my girlfriends, that shit keeps the world turning. It's also not abnormal for me to wake next to a banjo (and a shit tonne of clean laundry), however they are slightly less comfortable for spooning...

3. Eat. Yes! And drink (much to my mother’s disgust) while watching docos and flicks (and squeezing a feather pillow). Favourite down-time activity, almost.

4. Admin. Yep. I do business without even needing to get dressed. #winning

5. Let’s just say my child was not conceived on the washing machine ;) I just said that out loud. But you were thinking it at number one weren't you?

‘How Time Has Treated Thee' is released Friday, 12 December.
