'Swipe Night' is coming to Tinder.
It's a first-person, interactive event over three weekends where Tinder users swipe at key points in the experience in order to move the story forward, to see where it takes them. But their decisions go further than 'Swipe Night' – they'll also impact who you match with, and what you might chat about once the epic journey is over.
'Swipe Night' follows a group of friends – Tinder users play the protagonist – during the final hours before an asteroid hits earth. Throughout the adventure, users will be challenged with moral dilemmas and practical choices impacting what might unfold next. But you have to be quick! There are only seven seconds to make each decision.
Every week, users' key choices will be added to their Tinder profile, making for plenty of post-apocalyptic banter material, and icebreakers that (FINALLY) don't involve face masks.
Social and physical distancing and lockdowns have meant that Tinder users have gotten a lot more chatty (and creative!) with a 52 per cent rise in sent messages worldwide and swipe volume for under 25s rising 39 per cent.
"While the global health crisis continues, we believe 'Swipe Night' can bring a welcome change of pace to our members around the world," Tinder CEO Jim Lanzone says. "We’re committed to driving innovation on Tinder that creates more ways to bring our members together, entertain them, and help them meet and get to know new people."
'Swipe Night' was created with the help of some of the biggest names in the business. Directed by 24-year-old Karena Evans (who has worked with Drake), and written by the quick-witted Nicole Delaney ('Big Mouth' on Netflix) and Brandon Zuck ('Five Points' on Facebook Watch).
Every week, the event will be available until midnight on Sunday.
