Originally set for a 1am AEDT release on 6 December, a leaker has spoiled the fun, dropping the trailer for the hugely-anticipated ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ on X today.
To counter the unfortunate X leak, ‘Grand Theft Auto’ developer company Rockstar Games jumped to YouTube, pushing the premiere for the game’s trailer ahead and dropping it for the world to view. Prior to its drop, the trailer’s premiere was attracting up to 60,000 people waiting, despite the premiere being hours away.
The trailer takes us back to the iconic Vice City in the state of Leonida, where we meet our two protagonists: Jason and Lucia. The upcoming release is set to be the biggest, most immersive evolution of the ‘Grand Theft Auto’ series yet.
“‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” Founder of Rockstar Games Sam Houser says. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
Rockstar Games celebrates its 25th anniversary this month. Since its inception, ‘Grand Theft Auto’ has become one of the biggest selling, most critically acclaimed properties in modern entertainment. The most recent ‘GTA’ iteration has sold more than 81 million units worldwide.
‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
