The Adelaide Roller Derby (ADRD) returns to Adelaide Showgrounds this year, with the season opening Saturday 6 April.
Bouts kick off with reigning champions the Mile Die Club versing Road Train Rollers. Crowds will get to relive the intensity of the 2018 Grand Finals as these teams go head-to-head once more. This is sure to be an aggressive grudge match as both teams try to gain momentum to begin the season.
It's a powerful start to what is sure to be an interesting season for ADRD, which will also be full of many less-aggressive-but-equally-exciting things to entertain fans of all ages.
As always, our Lil’ Commie Bastards will be our quick-witted MCs for the night and we’ll have our Local Makers Market full of stalls of locally made creations. The bar will be open; bring a chair, blankets or cushion for your tush, and of course, hot food and drinks will be available to purchase.
To keep the kiddies busy, there is also space behind the track and speakers for little ones to skate around, with the correct safety gear on of course.
Come support the Adelaide Roller Derby, which is a non-for-profit organisation that is owned and operated by skaters. As a predominantly female-only, full contact sport, the ADRD is Adelaide's oldest and largest roller derby league that continues to empower women and build a positive community.
Adelaide Roller Derby takes place at Adelaide Showground (Wayville). Single bouts from 6pm, double-headers from 4pm. Click here for tickets and full details.
