Skate and street culture festival SHAKAFEST is returning to the Gold Coast for its second year.

Held in the Miami Tavern Precinct, the event is a look into the vibrant street scene that is the flip-side of the Gold Coast arts and tourism coin.

Veering away from the Gold Coast's image of nightclubs and lazy beach days, SHAKAFEST showcases hip hop, grunge, graffiti, and skate demonstrations as well as market stalls and more, in this diverse mini-festival.

Being headlined by Aussie legends Grinspoon as part of their 20 Years Of Better Living tour and featuring DZ Deathrays, Tired Lion and Butterfingers as well as a host of other artists, it's a massive line-up and sure to get pretty crazy.

Also on the bill are rapper Ivan Ooze, Brisbane band WAAX and locals Trapdoor and Radolescent.

Nominated for a Gold Coast Music Award for 'Event Of The Year', SHAKAFEST has won a lot of fans already and is looking set to keep growing.

Tickets go on sale 10 April at 9am.

SHAKAFEST takes place on Saturday 19 August at Miami Tavern Precinct.
