A professional golfer will no doubt still be sleeping on the couch after a trick shot he was practising went horribly wrong when a golf ball he struck hit his girlfriend. Ouchie.

Dutchman Joost Luiten was with his caddy and sticking to the 1.5m social distancing restrictions when disaster almost struck.

The 34 year old, who has notched up 6 career victories on the European Tour and is ranked #98 in the world (so he should be pretty good at the golfing stuff really) was catching his club (tossed by his caddy) and swinging in one motion.

After a couple of muffs and a few hearty lols and guffaws, Joost finally hit the mark sending the golf ball hurtling directly in the path of his girlfriend Melanie-Jane Lancaster, who had been filming.

Despite the video cutting out almost immediately after a piercing wail is heard off-screen from Lancaster, Joost reports all is well: "She survived, just a bruise." Something says he'll remain in the doghouse for some time to come.
