Music Industry Stalwarts Launch How Good Agency

L-R: Gerry Bull and Nick Yates launch HOW GOOD agency
Founder and Publisher. Based in Brisbane.
Howard started Scene Magazine in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. He (Howard, not The Zuck) likes Star Trek and a good Oxford Comma – way too much fun at parties.

Music industry stalwarts Nick Yates and Gerry Bull have launched a new music company, How Good.

How Good is a multi-service music company offering artist development, project management, publicity, partnerships, sponsorship, venue bookings and events via targeted strategies and creative campaigns for music, culture, brands and the arts.

The pair relate the joint venture began in a fish and chip shop on the Mornington Peninsula. "The aim is to use the wealth of our experience to provide artists and brands bespoke campaigns to help them achieve their vision of success, whatever that vision is."

Together the duo brings decades of experience in the music, media and entertainment industries; Yates with more than 15 years experience in artist management and project management.

As both a Senior Artist Manager and Head of Artist Management at Unified Music Group for over 12 years, Yates managed artists such as Illy, Amy Shark, Violent Soho, Nina Las Vegas and The Kite String Tangle, among many others.

He gained invaluable knowledge in the not-for-profit sector having spent the last year leading the music festival partnerships for AIME (Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience), an Australian charity tackling educational inequity through creatively connecting marginalised kids with mentorship programs.

In addition to this, he's contributed to the development of the music industry broadly sitting on the Board of the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and the judging panel for the American Express Music Backers Grant, and shared his expertise at music conferences across Australia, including BIGSOUND (QLD), Face the Music (VIC), WAMCon (WA) and Australian Music Week (NSW).

As a part of the new venture he'll take on the challenge of venue bookings for Sydney venue, Crowbar.

Gerry Bull offers publicity, partnerships, sponsorship and events expertise. In her 13 years as triple j publicist she gained vast experience and exceptional relationships within the music and media industries, which saw her run publicity campaigns for some of the biggest radio and television outlets and music festivals in Australia.

Her portfolio includes work across triple j, Double J, triple j Unearthed, rage, ABC TV, Hottest 100, J Awards and Ausmusic Month, as well as the One Night Stand and Beat The Drum concerts and Falls and Harvest Rock festivals.

Gerry has also curated over one thousand triple j partnerships, including festivals like Splendour In The Grass, Laneway Festival, BIGSOUND, Spilt Milk, Groovin The Moo, Listen Out, Unify, This That, Yours & Owls and countless local and international tours.

In addition to this, Gerry has run major events for the J Awards, Unearthed Showcases at Bigsound, Melbourne Music Week, Live At The Steps and ARIA Week, as well as parties such as Matt & Alex’s 5-Raves-in-5-Days.

Bull also strived to do "good" through implementing diversity guidelines to triple j partnerships, playing a key part in moving the date of triple j’s Hottest 100 away from 26 January and running national campaigns encouraging young people to vote in Federal Elections and the Same-Sex Marriage plebiscite.

Gerry has also helped raise millions of dollars for charities like AIME and Lifeline through Hottest 100 partnerships, as well as played an integral role in the creation of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day, which has gone on to raise much needed funds for Support Act and countless Australian artists.
